Dreamy florals at South Farm

When I left my meeting with Georgia and Tom to plan their South Farm wedding florals, my head was absolutely buzzing. I knew this was going to be a beauty.

And it really didn't disappoint. Let's start with the venue. South Farm has it all -- set in the Cambridge countryside, it has an elegant rose covered country house, stunning outdoor summerhouse for ceremonies, a beautiful barn for a wedding breakfast, and inbetween the two is a farm area with pigs, chickens and white peafowl. It's so tastefully done. And guests can stay in Romany caravans. It's like nowhere else.

The brief was soft, stylish and natural florals, in a gorgeous colour palette of ivory, cream, blush and champagne tones. And they wanted flowers everywhere, from the door to the main country house, to a hanging installation in the Tudor Barn. I was like a kid in a sweetshop.

We chose three different tablecentre designs for the wedding breakfast -- long floral runners for the trestle tables, and a mix of tall gold stand displays and lower gold rose bowl displays for the circular guest tables. And we created a hanging statement piece of a large floral hoop hanging from the centre of the ceiling as a real showstopper.

Our choice of flowers mainly consisted of soft and flouncy Old English roses, hydrangea and peonies for the larger displays, with shape and texture added by veronica, astilbe and a whole host of different foliages.

Despite us dressing the summerhouse ready for an outside ceremony, the great British weather had other ideas, and we had to change our plans to dress the Tudor Barn for an inside ceremony. We created a floral wooden arch, along with trailing foliage chair swags, draping over log slabs. The lovely Alice at Fluer de Lace provided additional decoration including logs, lanterns, gold candlesticks and the base for the hoop.

And just when I thought the wedding couldn't get any more perfect, I found out Tom Halliday was behind the camera. And he's ace!
