That's it, the scissors are down for 2016
As I hang up my scissors for the last time in 2016, I thought I’d take a look back at some of my highlights of the year. This has been so much harder than I thought to narrow down, so I decided to go with a sneak into how it all comes together thanks to some cheeky photographers snapping us in action (and I’ve discovered I wear a lot of striped t-shirts when working), and then a very small selection of the end results.
There was plenty of foliage passing through our workshop door this year and, with 2017 set to be the year of the greenery, there will be plenty more passing through I hope. We created lots of tumbly bouquets, got to play with a good dollop of moss which always makes me happy, used all the roses, and worked with some fantastic colour palettes too, especially blush/gold and grey, lots of brights through the summer, and plum with champagne tones which look yummy.
We created displays in all manor of containers, hung jars, climbed up ladders, snipped, pruned and de-thorned, carried endless crates of bouquets, and pinned buttonholes onto grooms and groomsmen who looked simply baffled by what to do with them. Oh, and one of us (me) put her hand in a broken vase resulting in a trip to A&E. Won’t be repeating that in 2017. But it’s all in a day’s work.
And here are the fruits of our labours. Firstly, a few of the bouquets…
The buttonholes and details...
And the tablecentres and venue decoration...
But, if we’re talking absolute hightlights, it’s moments like this, when we walk in with a crate of bouquets, that tops my list every time. And sorry for featuring you Donna (the other one in a Halo Blossom pinnie). She’ll hate me for this!
Happy new year to all the couples celebrating their first new year as husband and wife, the lovely staff at the fabulous venues we're lucky enough to work with, the other wedding suppliers we find ourselves beavering away next to, and all the future couples who are booking with us for 2017 and beyond.
I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve created this year, over the moon at the touching thank you messages we’ve received, and rather excited for what 2017 holds.
See you on the other side x
Thanks to Matt Penberthy Photography and The Real Slater Company for some of the fab pics
